Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of children and families? We’re looking for a dedicated School’s Family Support Worker to join our Early Help Service team. This is an exciting opportunity to provide direct support to children, young people, and their families, helping them overcome challenges and thrive in their home and school environments.
The Role: As a School’s Family Support Worker, you’ll play a key role in working with vulnerable families and young people, providing support at an early stage to divert families from higher-level services. Your goal will be to help improve outcomes for children and families, including better school attendance, improved behaviour, and enhanced well-being. You will be the lead professional for families, coordinating support, and empowering them to make positive changes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead on Complex Cases: Manage cases referred through schools and the Early Help Hub, including those stepped down from social care.
- Support Families: Provide intensive, tailored support to vulnerable children, young people, and their families, helping them develop practical solutions for issues such as attendance, behaviour, and health.
- Facilitate Multi-Agency Collaboration: Work closely with schools, social workers, and other professionals to create and implement Team Around the Family (TAF) plans.
- De-escalation & Support: Use de-escalation techniques to help manage challenging behaviours and promote positive changes within families.
- Safeguarding: Ensure the safety of children and young people by following safeguarding policies and actively engaging in child protection processes.
- Lead Professional Role: Take charge of the coordination of support services for families, reviewing progress and making adjustments as needed.
- Holistic Family Support: Work with families to enhance their parenting strategies, build strong relationships, and promote positive behaviour in both children and adults.
Essential Requirements:
- Experience working with children and families in a support or social care role.
- Knowledge of safeguarding policies and early intervention strategies.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive, effective relationships with children, parents, and professionals.
- A solution-focused approach and the ability to work flexibly to meet the needs of families.
- Commitment to promoting equality and non-discriminatory practices in all aspects of your work.
Make a Real Difference: This role offers the opportunity to create lasting, positive change for vulnerable children and their families.
Professional Development: You’ll receive continuous support, training, and opportunities for career progression.
Collaborative Environment: Work with a supportive team and make an impact within a forward-thinking local authority.
Additional Information: This role is subject to an enhanced DBS check. You will need to demonstrate an understanding of confidentiality, safeguarding procedures, and data protection policies.
If you’re ready to take on this rewarding and impactful role, we’d love to hear from you. Apply today and become part of a team dedicated to supporting children, young people, and families in our community!
