Are you an experienced Income Collection Officer looking for a new opportunity? Join a team based in Hackney and play a key role in ensuring rent and service charge payments are collected efficiently to support residents in temporary accommodation.
THE ROLE
As an Income Collection Officer, you will be responsible for managing a patch of temporary accommodation accounts, ensuring efficient collection of rent and service charges while providing excellent customer service.
- Support tenants with Housing Benefit applications to maximise income
- Conduct home visits and appointments to discuss arrears and provide financial advice
- Work on the front-of-house counter, handling income collection queries
- Serve possession notices and represent the Council at possession hearings
- Refer vulnerable tenants to support services for tenancy sustainability
- Maintain accurate records in line with GDPR and housing legislation
- Collaborate with internal teams and external agencies to support tenants
The ideal candidate will have previous experience in income collection, housing, or a similar role within a local authority or housing association.
- Strong knowledge of welfare benefits and housing legislation
- Experience handling rent arrears and serving possession notices
- Excellent customer service skills, both in person and over the phone
- Ability to work in partnership with support services and agencies
- Strong administrative and record-keeping skills, ensuring GDPR compliance
Temporary - 3 months
The pay rate for the role is £26.00 per hour LTD company rate. The PAYE equivalent is £22.17 per hour, inclusive of holiday.
