Summary

We are seeking a dedicated Tenancy Sustainment Officer for a local authority in Slough. This role focuses on providing short-term support to new and existing tenants, helping them sustain their tenancies and improve their quality of life.



The Role

As a Tenancy Sustainment Officer, you will:

  • Provide short-term support to tenants to maintain their tenancies.
  • Sign-post tenants to specialist agencies for long-term support.
  • Assist with welfare and benefits advice and advocacy.
  • Develop and implement individual support plans tailored to client needs.
  • Work with agencies to deliver coordinated support and conduct multi-agency meetings.
  • Assist with complex housing benefit cases and grant funding applications.
  • Manage the introductory and fixed-term tenancy process with Housing Officers.
  • Collaborate with various agencies to ensure efficient service delivery.
  • Conduct regular risk assessments and attend safeguarding meetings.
  • Promote service awareness and maintain accurate records.
  • Collect and report on statistical performance data.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety, confidentiality, and equal opportunities policies.


The Candidate

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Previous experience in housing management, social care, or a related support field.
  • Experience working with statutory and voluntary agencies in problem-solving contexts.
  • Ability to support a diverse group with varied needs and conduct impact assessments.
  • Experience managing confidential situations and sharing sensitive information appropriately.
  • Knowledge of housing, children's, and safeguarding legislation.
  • Expertise in housing benefits procedures and welfare benefits counselling.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to manage caseloads effectively and work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in IT and Microsoft Office.
  • A-Level or equivalent, or a relevant housing qualification.
  • A valid driver's license and access to own transport.


The Contract

  • Hours: 37.5 per week, Monday to Friday, with occasional early mornings.
  • Duration: 3 months, with potential for a temporary-to-permanent transition.
