Technical Officer DFG

Job Description

A client within the Public Sector based in the Northeast is currently recruiting for a Technical Officer to join their aids and adaptations team as soon as possible. The client is offering a full time, temporary position on an ongoing basis with the ideal candidate having experience of working within a local authority within a DFG environment.

The Role

Key purpose of the role is to be responsible for the provision of technical support specifically in relation to the provision of Disabled Facilities Grants and essential property repairs.

Key responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • Carrying out surveys of properties and taking subsequent appropriate action in connection with:
    • Interpretation of architectural drawings and structural reports,
    • Assessment of conditions using the Housing Health and Safety Rating System in properties across all tenures,
    • The implementation of policies and procedures in relation to the provision of disabled facilities grants.
  • Advising individuals of the requirements of the relevant legislation and attempting to reach a satisfactory conclusion.

The Candidate

To be considered for this role you will be required to be Educated to degree level in Environmental Health, Housing or Surveying or the equivalent substantial demonstrable level of knowledge gained through directly relevant works experience.

The below experience / skills would be desirable for this role:

  • A thorough understanding of the legislation that governs the improvement of private sector dwellings.
  • Successful completion of the Housing Health and Safety Rating System Practitioners Course.
  • Good understanding of the Housing Health and Safety Rating System.
  • An understanding of the legislation, regulations and codes of practice relevant to taking enforcement action.

The client is looking to move quickly with this role and as such are offering £20 - £23 per hour Umbrella LTD Inside IR35.
