A client within the Public Sector based in South Yorkshire is currently recruiting for a Planning Officer to join their Development Management Team as soon as possible. The client is offering a full-time, temporary position on an ongoing basis, with the ideal candidate having experience of working within a local authority in a Development Management environment.
The Role
Key purpose of the role is to deliver and implement corporate and directorate objectives through specialist planning advice, dealing with planning applications, policy development, and associated services.
Key responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
- assist in the delivery of Planning Services by providing clear, effective advice on Development Management and Planning Policy to achieve borough, corporate, and service priorities.
- be responsible for a caseload of non-major planning applications, including residential schemes (1-20 houses) and small-scale commercial/industrial developments, and to determine all planning applications and other matters in accordance with the Council's approved scheme of delegation.
- handle discharges of condition, provide pre-application advice, and support appeal statements for written representations appeals.
The Candidate
To be considered for this role, you will require a planning qualification to degree level (or equivalent) and willingness to work towards full membership of the RTPI, with evidence of continuing professional development.
The below skills would be beneficial for the role:
- Local Authority experience working on Policy Planning, handling non-major planning applications, and/or preparing and presenting evidence at appeals or examinations.
- Ability to clearly write and present reports and evidence on complex planning matters.
- Experience in handling a range of application types within a busy Development Management setting.
The client is looking to move quickly with this role and as such are offering £40 per hour
Umbrella LTD Inside IR35 (approx. £32 per hour PAYE).
