Specialist Support Worker

Duration: Initially 6 months
Hours: 36 hours a week
Rate: £20 umbrella an hour

Southwark Council are currently looking for a Specialist Support Worker to join their All Age Disability/Learning Disability Team. As a Specialist Support Worker you will:

  • Undertake assessments and create effective support plans
  • Undertake direct work with service users and their families/carers and/or support workers to implement the support plan and behaviour intervention methods
  • Promote access to social, leisure and education opportunities to enrich service users quality of life
  • Provide advice, guidance and consultation to social care practitioners, families, carers, support staff and other professionals
  • Write reports, case records and correspondences in line with departmental guidelines and policy and undertake all administrative duties relating to the social care function

Requirements

  • Knowledge of disabilities and the impact they can have on individuals lives
  • PBS qualification (e.g. BTEC Level 4 Professional Certificate in Positive Behaviour Support) or equivalent professional or lived experience
  • Experience in a similar role
