We are searching for a Rent Office/ Income Officer to join a team based in Camden to play a key role in delivering a proactive, customer-focused rent collection service that supports tenants while maximising income recovery.
THE ROLE
As a Rent Services Officer, you will be responsible for managing rent accounts and arrears recovery across Camden’s housing stock. You will take a proactive approach to income collection, ensuring compliance with legal frameworks while providing essential support to tenants.
  • Manage a designated patch of residential and non-residential rent accounts to maximise collection and minimise arrears.
  • Ensure compliance with pre-court action protocol and take appropriate legal action when required.
  • Provide advice and support to tenants, signposting to welfare services and support agencies where necessary.
  • Handle customer enquiries relating to rent payments and arrears, identifying opportunities for early intervention.
  • Process payments over the phone and maintain accurate records using Northgate and other office systems.
  • Collaborate with housing management, welfare benefits teams, and legal services to ensure a joined-up approach.
  • Analyse data to assess the best action for meeting collection targets while balancing the needs of tenants.
THE CANDIDATE
The ideal candidate will have previous experience in a similar role, managing rent arrears within a housing or local authority setting. You will have a strong understanding of housing legislation and income recovery procedures.
  • Experience managing rent arrears cases and ensuring compliance with pre-court action protocols.
  • Knowledge of welfare benefits and their impact on rent collection.
  • Strong customer service skills, with the ability to handle difficult conversations professionally.
  • Excellent IT proficiency, including experience using Northgate and office software packages.
  • Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and achieve key performance indicators.
THE CONTRACT
  • Temporary – 3 months ongoing
  • The pay rate for the role is £24.00 per hour LTD company rate. The PAYE equivalent is £20.46 per hour, inclusive of holiday.
