Job Title: Environmental Contracts Officer
Start Date: ASAP
Contract: Ongoing Temporary Contract for minimum of 3 months 
Pay Rate: £18 per hour Umbrella LTD (Inside IR35)

About the Role: We have an exciting opportunity for an Environmental Contracts Officer to join a Council Client in Kent. This role plays a key part in managing environmental contracts, waste and street cleansing services, cemeteries, allotments, and garage management. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring high service standards, effective contractor management, and strong customer service delivery.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Act as the first point of contact for public enquiries, service requests, and complaints related to environmental contracts.
  • Oversee contractor performance, ensuring compliance with waste, recycling, and street cleansing contracts.
  • Manage records and databases for cemeteries, allotments, and garage tenancy services.
  • Support financial processes, including purchase orders, invoicing, and budget tracking.
  • Attend meetings with contractors to monitor service delivery and ensure contractual obligations are met.
  • Work closely with the Enforcement team regarding environmental crime issues.
  • Administer Freedom of Information (FOI) requests and maintain compliance with data protection regulations.
  • Assist with the council’s strategic planning for garages and area management.
  • Support litter-picking initiatives and community engagement activities to promote environmental responsibility.
  • Ensure that web pages and public information related to environmental contracts are kept up to date.
Essential Skills & Experience:
  • Experience handling public enquiries, service requests, and complaints.
  • Strong knowledge of contract administration and contractor management.
  • Proficiency in financial administration, including invoicing and purchase order processing.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks across waste services, cemeteries, allotments, and garage tenancies.
  • Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and database management.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • A background in waste & recycling services or local government is desirable but not essential.
