Are you passionate about improving student attendance and supporting families in education? We’re looking for dedicated professionals to join our Education Welfare Service for a 15-week temporary role.
This position offers a unique chance to make a meaningful impact on student engagement while working closely with schools and families.
As part of your role, you will:
- Collaborate with schools to boost pupil attendance.
- Manage a caseload of families who have chosen to Electively Home Educate (EHE).
- Elective Home Education (EHE): Monitor and ensure suitable education is provided by parents and carers who opt for EHE.
- Maintain the Wakefield Education Welfare Service register for EHE pupils.
- Liaise with EHE parents/carers in line with legislation, receiving reports of work undertaken.
- Work alongside external partners like the Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH) to ensure information is aligned with safeguarding procedures.
- Contribute to policy development and participate in assessments.
- Use the EHE database to provide updates to the Senior Education Welfare Officer.
- Maintain databases to meet Ofsted requirements and ensure up-to-date statistical information.
- Provide statistical information for regular FOI requests.
- Develop links with other authorities regarding EHE.
- Regularly interrogate background information for operational panels.
- Experience working in schools, ideally within school attendance.
- A valid enhanced DBS check (required for working with children and adults).
