About the Role: We are currently recruiting for an experienced Damp and Mould Surveyor to join the Repairs Client Team at a west london based Council. This is a key role focused on ensuring compliance with the Homes (Fitness for Human Habitation) Act 2018 and delivering effective property services across a wide-ranging housing portfolio.
You will lead on damp and mould investigations and support the delivery of day-to-day repairs, disrepair works, refurbishment projects, void inspections, and structural investigations. This is an opportunity to contribute directly to improved housing conditions and resident satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
- Carry out pre-, mid-, and post-inspections for damp and mould issues, day-to-day repairs, void works, and disrepair cases
- Ensure timely diagnosis and resolution of complex building defects and leaks
- Oversee and manage structural inspections and arrange for remedial works
- Provide technical advice and leadership on complaints, compliance, and health & safety matters
- Liaise with residents, contractors, and internal teams to resolve high-risk or escalated repair issues
- Maintain legal compliance with all housing repair regulations and statutory obligations
- Lead on void inspections and works, ensuring properties meet lettable standards
- Assist with the development and implementation of Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) programmes
- Monitor contractor performance, issue variations, and manage financial authorisations
- Oversee disrepair case management and liaise with legal and housing teams
- Prepare detailed reports using systems such as Site Audit Pro and manage repair scheduling
- Proven experience as a Building Surveyor, Repairs Surveyor, or similar role within social housing
- Strong background in damp, condensation, and mould diagnostics
- Experience handling disrepair claims, void property inspections, and refurbishment projects
- Knowledge of relevant housing legislation including the Homes (Fitness for Human Habitation) Act
- Proficiency in defect diagnosis, specification writing, and contractor supervision
- Strong understanding of health and safety legislation, CDM regs, and housing compliance standards
- Familiar with repairs software systems and mobile inspection tools
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Degree or professional qualification in Building Surveying or Construction (or equivalent experience)
