Consultant Psychiatrist

Service Care Solutions are recruiting for a Consultant Psychiatrist on a Permanent, Part- Time position for our established client in Belfast. The post holder will be providing psychiatric support for former servicemen and women with issues like post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), anxiety and depression.

Our client are one of the UK's leading mental health charity for veterans who provide a range of community, outpatient and residential mental health services to veterans with complex mental health problems in-person, on the phone and online

Consultant Psychiatrist:

Salary: Negotiable depending upon experience
Hours: Part-time, 11.25 hours per week

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership and Clinical Oversight:
    • Provide psychiatric leadership for the outpatient service for veterans.
    • Act as the senior medical clinician within the Belfast Hub, ensuring high standards of care.
    • Lead the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment recommendations for veterans on an outpatient basis.
  • Clinical Responsibilities:
    • Conduct comprehensive psychiatric assessments and develop tailored treatment plans for veterans.
    • Manage the care of veterans within the Belfast Hub and provide medical cover in other regions as required.
    • Ensure that all clinical work complies with legal, ethical, and professional standards.
  • Interdisciplinary Collaboration:
    • Advise the Hub Manager on clinical matters and contribute to strategic planning.
    • Foster interdisciplinary team working to address the complex mental health needs of veterans.
    • Participate in team meetings and case conferences to ensure integrated and holistic care.
  • Professional Development:
    • Participate in continuing professional development to maintain professional competence.
    • Supervise and support junior medical staff and trainees.
    • Stay updated with the latest research and developments in psychiatry and apply this knowledge to practice.

Essential Requirements:

  • Qualifications and Experience: Medical degree, GMC registration, and completion of higher training in psychiatry (MRCPsych or equivalent).
  • Skills and Competencies: Expertise in assessing and treating PTSD, anxiety, and depression; strong leadership and clinical decision-making skills.
  • Licensing and Certification: Valid license to practice psychiatry in the UK; subject to an Access NI check.
  • Personal Attributes: Empathy, resilience, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to veterans' mental health.
