Building Control Surveyor

Job Description

A client within the Public Sector based in Leicestershire is currently recruiting for Building Control Surveyor to join their team as soon as possible. The client is offering a full time, contract position on an ongoing basis with the ideal candidate having experience of working within a local authority.

The Role

Key purpose of the role is to ensure that the health, public safety, welfare and convenience of persons in or around buildings and structures which are subject to Building Control procedures is protected.

Key responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • examine deposited plans to ensure that proposed work satisfies the relevant requirements.
  • carry out site visits to ensure that building work is carried out in accordance with the requirements of the Building Act and other relevant legislation.
  • visit sites, make reports and take action in relation to dangerous structures and demolition sites.
  • undertake enforcement procedures in relation to building work not in compliance with legal requirements.
  • examine plans and make visits to sports grounds which are subject to the Sports Grounds Act and to check temporary stands used in connection with sports and entertainments

The Candidate

To be considered for this role you will require to be a registered Class 2 (a-f) building surveyors

It will be essential to be in possession of the below:

  • experience of protection of health and safety by the assessment of building work and the requirement of any necessary changes to ensure compliance with the Building Regulations and associated legislation.
  • experience of provision of adequate fire safety and means of escape in case of fire in buildings and sports grounds.
  • Experience of protection of the public in relation to dangerous structures, demolitions and attendance at sports grounds.
  • require provision to be made in building work to ensure adequate conservation of fuel and power.
  • enforce the relevant requirements of the Building Regulations which make provision of access to and facilities in buildings for disabled persons

The client is looking to move quickly with this role and as such are offering between £40 - £50 per hour Umbrella Ltd.
