Asset Manager

Job Description

A client within the Public Sector based in Bedfordshire is currently recruiting for an Asset Manager to join their highways team as soon as possible. The client is offering a full time, permanent position with the ideal candidate having experience of working within the public sector within a highways environment.

The Role

Key purpose of the role is to lead projects delivered by the client and be responsible for all aspects of service delivery from inception to completion.

Key responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • Lead the Council's highway asset management service safely, effectively and sustainably including provision of technical expertise and accurate records.
  • Be an advocate of for continuous improvement, ensure best practice is utilised and excellent service provided
  • Ensure the team are working efficiently and delivering their roles whilst providing specialist/expert advice for the service in line with corporate aspirations.
  • Be accountable and manage delivery for the team's allocated capital and revenue budget ensuring that the Council receives best value.
  • Represent the authority at regional meetings, developing and maintaining effective supplier relationships.

The Candidate

To be considered for this role you will require a qualification appropriate to the level of the role as well as extensive experience within the Highways and Transport sector, together with developed knowledge and understanding of Asset Management software, industry codes of practice, processes and procedures.

The below skills would be beneficial for the role:

  • commercially driven leader who can deliver this service and fully integrate principles of whole life asset planning
  • manage, coach and develop a team of technical staff, providing clear direction and support and to enable individuals to achieve their potential and deliver effective business results
  • technical experience in a highway or civil engineering related field with evidence of continuous professional development and industry related knowledge in the highway environment.

The client is looking to move quickly with this role and as such are offering £52,547 - £55,929 per annum including various other benefits.
