Job Title: Targeted Services Officer (Temporary - 3-Month Contract)
Location: Liverpool
Contract: Temporary, Full-Time (3 months)
Hours: Full-Time, including occasional evening and weekend work

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Targeted Services Officer to join a local authority team on a temporary 3-month contract. This role offers a chance to make a meaningful impact by supporting vulnerable young people and their families. As a Targeted Services Officer, you will play a key role in providing services that reduce the risk of offending and harm, while promoting the safety and well-being of young people in a variety of settings.

Main Areas of Responsibility:
  • Work directly with and supervise young people in a variety of settings, helping to reduce the risk of offending and the potential harm they may present to others, while ensuring their safety.
  • Assist in the development and delivery of tailored programmes of work for both group and individual young people.
  • Ensure that the views and needs of young people are represented in the services and programmes delivered by Targeted Services and wider local authority services.
  • Accurately record all contact and work undertaken with young people using the appropriate electronic recording system as required.
  • Assess, plan, and deliver interventions according to the specific needs of young people and their families.
  • Collaborate with statutory and voluntary partners, as well as local communities, to provide positive opportunities for young people.
  • Advocate for and represent young people in various settings, ensuring their voices are heard.
  • Provide support to families of young people in contact with Targeted Services, assisting them in addressing concerns and integrating into mainstream statutory and voluntary services.
  • Develop and deliver programmes and activities in line with the local authority’s commitment to equal opportunities and non-discriminatory practices.
General Responsibilities:
  • This role will require regular evening and weekend work.
  • Undertake additional duties as discussed and agreed upon with the line manager, commensurate with the grade and level of responsibility of the post.
  • Ensure that all functions are carried out in line with the policies and procedures of the local authority.
  • Promote and develop the local authority’s commitment to equal opportunities, ensuring non-discriminatory practices in all aspects of work.
What We’re Looking For:
  • Experience in working with young people, ideally in a supervisory or support role.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to advocate for young people and work effectively with families, partners, and community stakeholders.
  • Experience in delivering individual and group work, as well as the ability to assess needs and plan interventions.
  • A strong commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people.
  • Ability to work independently and manage a demanding caseload, while adhering to organisational policies and procedures.
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as required.
