About the role
Provide a professional Surveying service for the purpose of Repairing, maintaining and improving properties.
Responsibilities
- Undertake property condition surveys, Asbestos Surveys and Health & Safety inspections of properties and premises for the purpose of maintaining and improving Westward properties
- Ensure that Property Services databases are correctly maintained
- Prepare details, schedules of work, programmes, specifications and tender documentation and advertisements as necessary
- Project management and oversight of contract works relating to programmed maintenance and improvements.
- Undertake contract administration including works inspections, ensuring compliance with all appropriate legislative standards, including CDM co-ordinator or Client responsibilities in compliance with own service standards and budgetary control.
- Contribute to customer consultation and maintaining external partnerships.
- Administer delivering appropriate disabled adaptations to Housing customers.
- Ensure you are always attaining value for money in all your activities
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures at all times, particularly Health and Safety legislation and be responsible for your workspace
Experience
- Qualification in Building Technology HNC Level or equivalent trade / industry qualification
- Carrying out stock condition surveys.
Knowledge of:
- Theoretical and practical building maintenance and repairs with the ability to diagnose building defects and determine remedial actions.
- Preparation of working drawings and specifications for building or remodelling works.
- Stock condition surveys and data collection
- Building life cycle costing
- Energy surveys, data collection and analysis
- Asbestos Regulations
- Decent Homes Standard
- Construction & Housing Health & Safety
- Grant Funding mechanisms relating to Aids and Adaptations and green agenda
- British Standards and Building Regulations relating to adapting properties for the disabled
- Compliance with DDA (Disability Discrimination Act)
- Building procurement processes & forms of contract
- CDM Regulations
- Resident consultation methodology
Good to have:
- Qualification in Building Technology Degree Level.
- Registration with the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors or other recognised Chartered construction professional body.
- Working knowledge and ability to use CAD (computer aided design) software.
- P402 or P405 qualified in Asbestos surveying.
