Streetworks Inspector

Job Description

A client within the Public Sector based in West Yorkshire is currently recruiting for a Streetworks Inspector to join their team as soon as possible. The client is offering a full-time, temporary position on an ongoing basis, with the ideal candidate having experience of working within a local authority within a highway network management environment.
 
The Role
Key purpose of the role is to be responsible for coordinating road and street works, arranging road closures for works and events, and inspecting works under the Council’s Permit Scheme.
Key responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
  • Monitoring and reporting on highway works by carrying out inspections under NRASWA.
  • Ensuring compliance with signing, lighting, and guarding requirements as per the Traffic Signs Manual and Safety at Street Works and Road Works Code of Practice.
  • Checking compliance with the Specification for the Reinstatement of Openings in Highways (SROH).
  • Recording details of inspections and maintaining appropriate records for fee recovery.
  • Undertaking permit compliance checks.
 
The Candidate
To be considered for this role, you will require:
  • NRASWA (New Roads and Street Works Act) Operative accreditation.
  • 4 GCSEs at grades 9 to 4 (including English, Mathematics, and Science) OR Level 2 Diploma (including mathematics) OR Level 3 NVQ Diploma in a Construction-related field. Equivalent experience will also be considered.
  • A full and valid driving licence
The below skills would be beneficial for the role:
  • Ability to assess risks and manage incidents on the highway.
  • Knowledge of technical standards for highways-related activities.
  • Good IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office.
 
The client is looking to move quickly with this role and is offering £30 per hour Umbrella LTD Inside IR35 (approx. £24 per hour PAYE).
