Communication Data Investigator (SPOC) – Police Investigation Unit Service Care Solutions is currently recruiting for a Communication Data Investigator (SPOC) to support a UK Police Force in the lawful acquisition of communications data for criminal investigations. This role involves working with Communication Service Providers (CSPs), Internet Service Providers (ISPs), and Application Service Providers (ASPs) to gather intelligence and provide investigative support to law enforcement.

Rate: £32,247-£37,692 or if candidate didnt want permanent they will consider a day rate 
Contract: Full-time
Security Clearance: MV/SC required

Key Responsibilities:
  • Act as a Single Point of Contact (SPOC) for the lawful acquisition of communications data in criminal investigations.

  • Work closely with investigators, Senior Investigating Officers (SIOs), and other law enforcement partners to develop strategies for data acquisition.

  • Request, process, and assess communications data from CSPs, ISPs, and ASPs, ensuring compliance with RIPA, CPIA, DPA, and the Management of Police Information Act.

  • Support emergency response teams with 24/7 on-call support, advising on real-time data retrieval in critical situations, including threat-to-life and crime-in-action scenarios.

  • Conduct research and analysis on emerging trends in digital communications, identifying new law enforcement strategies for obtaining and interpreting data.

  • Provide briefings, training, and strategic advice to operational officers, crime investigators, and partner agencies.

  • Deliver witness statements and provide expert testimony in court proceedings as required.

  • Ensure data protection and legal compliance, following national codes of practice.

Requirements: ? Educated to A-Level, NVQ Level 3 or equivalent standard
? Strong knowledge of communications legislation, including RIPA, CPIA, DPA, and Human Rights Act
? Experience working in a law enforcement, intelligence, or investigative environment
? Advanced IT and Excel skills, with experience using intelligence databases
? Excellent analytical, communication, and decision-making skills
? Ability to work independently, prioritise workloads, and engage with multiple agencies
? Must hold or be eligible for MV/SC security clearance

Desirable Experience:
  • Previous experience within a policing intelligence or investigative unit

  • Understanding of telecommunications, network services, and emerging digital technologies

  • Experience working with national and regional intelligence teams
