Job Description

Service Care Legal are seeking an experienced Adult Social Care Lawyer to join a London Borough Council's Adult Social Care Team on a 3-month ongoing contract. You will provide legal support on safeguarding cases under the Care Act 2014, including Court of Protection applications and High Court matters, and represent the Council in judicial reviews, Coroner's Court proceedings, and disputes with the NHS.

Job Title: Senior Adult Social Care Lawyer
Location: West London
Contract: 9 month contract with scope of extension
Rate: £60.00 to £65.00 per hour

Please note that this role is mostly remote with occasional office attendance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Represent the Council in Court of Protection and High Court cases related to safeguarding adults, including deprivations of liberty, hoarding, abuse, and appointing deputies.
  • Defend judicial reviews and advise on special educational needs, social care accommodation, and other related matters.
  • Represent the Council in Coroner's Court and assist with mental health and social care issues under the Mental Health Act 1983.
  • Provide legal guidance on disputes, partnerships, and statutory duties under the Human Rights Act, Disabled Facilities Grant, and more.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Qualified solicitor or barrister with significant experience in Adult Social Care law, safeguarding, and related legislation.
  • Experience in Court of Protection, judicial reviews, and working with the Care Act 2014 and Mental Capacity Act 2005.
  • Ability to advise on complex social care and human rights matters.
