Job Title: Senior Estates Surveyor
Start Date: ASAP
Contract: Ongoing Temporary Contract
Pay Rate: £300 - £350 per day Umbrella LTD

About the Role: An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Estates Surveyor to join a Devon-based Council. This role involves the commercial estate management of the Council’s diverse commercial property portfolio and providing expert property advice to other service units.
The successful candidate will be responsible for valuations, negotiations, and property management tasks including lease grants, terminations, rent reviews, and property disposals. You will also supervise Assistant Estates Surveyors, provide property management advice, and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage the commercial property portfolio, including lease negotiations, rent reviews, renewals, and disposals.
  • Oversee day-to-day property management including service charges, tenant management, and repair requests.
  • Conduct valuations for capital accounting purposes and asset valuations.
  • Implement effective management practices and ensure legal compliance.
  • Provide advice to other Council units on property matters.
  • Support and mentor Assistant Estates Surveyors.
  • Address health and safety issues related to the property portfolio.
Essential Skills & Experience:
  • Membership or Fellowship of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS).
  • Eligibility as a RICS Registered Valuer.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of commercial property market, property law, and valuation practices.
  • Strong negotiating skills and proven ability in property management.
  • Demonstrated experience in valuation and estate management.
  • Project management and team working skills.
  • Awareness of Health & Safety legislation.
  • Strong IT and communication skills.
  • Supervisory and mentoring experience is desirable.
  • A valid driver’s license is preferred.
