We're looking for a PR Specialist to join our client's External Affairs team.
As our client's PR Specialist, you'll oversee their external reputation. If you are a confident PR professional who's equally happy seeking out positive opportunities to raise corporate profiles as you are forecasting and responding to risks, this role is for you.
You'll seek out proactive, positive success stories and amplify them across our channels and in the media, crafting compelling narratives that reflect our client's values and support customer satisfaction. This role will require excellent copywriting skills to create and adapt content for various audiences and channels. You'll work closely with the Communications and Public Affairs team to coordinate outputs and with the press to build the client's media profile. You'll also monitor public affairs and external events, responding appropriately and managing reputational risks.
This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who wants to make a tangible difference to our customer and colleague experience and the communities we serve.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Seek out opportunities to raise our client's profile with relevant stakeholders and the media.
  • Create high-quality content for multiple channels, including press releases, award entries, case studies, and thought-leadership pieces.
  • Manage media relationships, pitching proactive news stories and responding to press inquiries.
  • Monitor external media events to assess risks and plan for crisis scenarios.
  • Build strong relationships across the organization to identify opportunities and mitigate risks.
  • Work closely with the Communications and Public Affairs team to ensure messaging consistency.
  • Some evening and weekend work may be required to handle media matters.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Sound PR and media relations experience with a strong understanding of how to navigate the media landscape
  • Proven ability to develop, implement, and execute successful public relations campaigns
  • Demonstrable experience in crisis management and handling reputational risks
  • Experience managing a press office and responding to media inquiries
  • Strong copywriting skills and ability to create content under pressure
  • Proactive approach to identifying and amplifying success stories
  • Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills
  • Self-starter, capable of working independently or as part of a dynamic team

What You'll Get From Us:

  • 28 days of paid holiday per year (rising by 1 day per year, up to 1 working week), excluding bank holidays
  • A choice of pension schemes: Defined Benefit Scheme (7.5% member contribution) or Defined Contribution Scheme (4% member/4% employer contribution), both with life insurance cover
  • Option to purchase up to 2 additional weeks of holiday (at manager's discretion)
  • Employee Assistance Programme
  • "Hapi" Benefits App for multiple discounts
  • Cycle to work scheme
  • Agile working options and a focus on professional and personal development
