Pest Control Officer
Islington
Monday – Friday 08:00 – 15:30 (35 hours per week)
3 Month Contract

£18 per hour


Job Overview:
We are seeking a Pest Control Officer to join our Public Protection team. This role involves investigating and treating pest infestations, advising residents and businesses, and contributing to pest control initiatives.

Pest Control Officer Key Responsibilities:
  • Investigate and treat rodent and insect infestations in residential and commercial properties.
  • Conduct surveys, inspect drainage systems, and provide pest control treatments.
  • Advise customers on pest prevention and distribute relevant literature.
  • Report persistent infestations and recommend alternative treatments.
  • Assist with stock management and maintenance of pest control equipment.
  • Promote the pest control service to attract new business.
  • Drive and maintain the clients vehicle in line with regulations.
  • Maintain accurate records and prepare reports as required.
  • Liaise with internal departments and external organisations regarding pest control issues.
  • Represent the clients professionally when interacting with clients.
  • Carry out responsibilities in compliance with health and safety regulations.
Pest Control Officer Essential Criteria:
  • BPCA Operators Certificate Level 2 or Royal Society of Health Pest Control Certificate.
  • Previous experience dealing with public health pests and carrying out pest control work in both commercial and residential settings.
  • A clean driving licence.
  • Commitment to equality, diversity, and dignity at work.
  • Satisfactory clearance from the Disclosure and Barring Service.
Pest Control Officer Skills & Knowledge:
  • Ability to investigate complaints and recommend appropriate treatments.
  • Safe handling and application of pesticides and pest control equipment.
  • Knowledge of relevant laws and regulations.
  • Strong record-keeping skills.
  • Ability to assess infestations and determine appropriate solutions.
  • Effective time management and route planning skills.
  • Competence in using technology for work-related tasks.
  • Flexibility to work outside normal hours if required.
