This is a unique opportunity to support from the outset, a high-profile statutory Public Inquiry investigating Scotland's response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
This role will work as part of the Inquiry legal team to flexibly and constructively ensure the efficient delivery of outcomes. The ideal candidate will have a flexible and adaptable approach to work. You will directly support the Solicitor to the Inquiry and a team of assistant solicitors as well as assisting Counsel and working directly with the Counsel on their respective portfolios on investigative work streams.
This is a 8 month Contract and would be a annual salary of: £36,585 this equates to a £186.83 LTD day rate, may have some flexibility.
Key Responsibilities
- Assisting solicitors and Counsel with consideration of evidence and preparing reports and documents for use by the solicitor and Counsel team,
- Working with solicitors to take witness evidence
- Application and operation of core participant documentation
- Liaising with secretariat on operation of core participant applications, including updating guidance and dealing with correspondence
- Liaising with and supporting Counsel on investigations
- Carrying out other tasks required by the inquiry, including providing cover for the wider team of paralegals
Essential Criteria
- Ability to carry out tasks independently with minimum oversight, remaining calm under pressure
- LLB/LLM in Scots Law and worked within a Scottish Law firm
- Ability to foresee risk and assist with strategic planning
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Excellent analytical and research skills
