Network Technician

Service Care Solutions are looking for a network Technician to work within the Leicester City Council on a 3-month contract.

Location: Leicester

Job role/responsibilities:
The Network Management Technician's role is to support the delivery of the Council's responsibility and the function of the Network Management Service by supporting the functions of the Network Coordinator and NRSWA Inspector.

  • To ensure that the services are delivered for the benefit of the people of Leicestershire.
  • To maintain positive and cooperative working relationships with customers and colleagues within the team and across the service.
  • To ensure activities are delivered in the most efficient and effective manner as possible.
  • To collate and provide information related to the network management and associated activities and events. Support liaison with wide-ranging stakeholders to manage enquiries, requests for information, negotiation and disputes.
  • To support the Network Officer in their coordination duties.
  • To authorise requests for private Street Works license, such as NRSWA Section 50 & 171, and issue licenses in accordance with agreed process and procedures.
  • To support the Councils management of the Highway asset and associated network data and controls for the efficient and effective use of the network.
  • To support the NRSWA Inspector in the carrying out of inspections on the network, including the provision of information and any subsequent action, including improvement notices or sanctions.
  • To support the monitoring of progress and satisfactory conclusion of any remedial works and report any non-compliance to the Network Officer or Street Works Inspector (as appropriate) for further action.

Knowledge/Experience required:

  • Working in an engineering setting, including design, management, maintenance or administrative processes in relation to highways infrastructure
  • Working in a commercial environment and delivering projects and programmes to time, quality and cost
  • Liaising with customers / clients using a variety of methods
  • Experience of accurately capturing, storing and retrieving information to meet customer and organisational and needs
  • IT in a design office/ business environment including Microsoft Office or equivalent software
  • Interpreting and writing technical and non-technical reports and providing technical advice or drawings
  • Engagement with customers, including attending and producing materials for meetings and exhibitions


Qualifications:

  • NVQ3 or equivalent, i.e. BTEC in Civil Engineering or A-Levels A-C in relevant subjects, OR
  • Extensive demonstrable experience as identified above.
