Mechanical Building Services Supervisor

Job Description

A client within the Public Sector based in the East Midlands is currently recruiting for a Project Supervisor (Mechanical) to join their Property, Design and Maintenance team as soon as possible. This is a full-time, temporary position on an ongoing basis, suited for candidates with experience in compliance and mechanical engineering within a local authority environment.

The Role

Key purpose of the role:
Manage the council's building and maintenance projects, acting as the technical specialist in Mechanical Building Services Engineering. The role ensures that all works are delivered efficiently, meet performance specifications and quality standards, and comply with all health and safety regulations, particularly those concerning water hygiene and legionella.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Acting as a key advisor on compliance for the corporate estate, following ISO 55000 standards.
  • Providing specialist advice on mechanical building services, including heating, water systems, air conditioning, and commercial kitchens.
  • Overseeing project delivery, including inspections, reporting, and snagging processes.
  • Ensuring compliance with relevant statutory legislation and British Standards.
  • Managing project budgets, forecasting, and ensuring value for money.
  • Leading on procurement and contract management for property and construction projects.
  • Maintaining and updating the council's Asset Management Database.

The Candidate

To be considered for this role, you will require:

  • A professional qualification or equivalent experience in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services.
  • Knowledge of statutory legislation, including CDM regulations and ISO standards.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing building and maintenance projects in a public sector environment.

Beneficial skills include:

  • Strong project and budget management skills.
  • Experience with asset management systems and frameworks.
  • Expertise in compliance and risk assessments.

Remuneration

The client is offering £26 per hour Umbrella LTD Inside IR35 (approx. £21 p/h PAYE).
