Highways Engineer

Job Description

A client within the Public Sector based in West Yorkshire is currently recruiting for Highways Engineer to join their major transport team as soon as possible. The client is offering a full time, contract position on an ongoing basis with the ideal candidate having experience of working within a local authority.

The Role

Key purpose of the role is to carry out feasibility and concept studies, public engagement and consultation, design, inspections, assessments, procurement, construction supervision and project

Management.

Key responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • provide expertise and specialist knowledge in aspects of the following appropriate to the placement within the Service
  • be responsible for the supervision and direction of junior members of the team in relation to the delivery of projects and activities of the service including Engineers, Technicians, Inspectors, Clerks of Works and Apprentices.
  • Ensure that the Council's legal obligations as Highway Authority under the Highways Act, Road Traffic Act and other allied legislation are fulfilled.

The Candidate

To be considered for this role you will require to have a HNC/D in Civil Engineering or related discipline OR BSc (Hons) in Civil Engineer OR NVQ Level 6 in Civil Engineering OR equivalent.

It will be essential to be in experiences in the below:

  • Minimum 2 years' experience in a senior capacity in a large engineering organisation.
  • Demonstrate understanding in the use of technical software appropriate to the role (eg Micro Drainage, Hydro Works, AutoCAD, Aimsum, SATURN, PICADY, ARCADY, LinSig)
  • Able to make practical application of traffic and road safety legislation (e.g. Highways Act 1980, Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, Road Traffic Act 1988)

The client is looking to move quickly with this role and as such are offering between £40 p/h - £43.50 p/h Umbrella Ltd. (approx. £32 -£34.50 p/h PAYE)
