£14.50ph Weekdays, £17ph Saturdays, £20ph Sundays

Job Overview

Rowan Ward is an inpatient unit for patients recovering from strokes

Support the nurse in charge, support patients with personal care, help with feeding, give out meals, undertake observations, complete relevant fluid/food/bowel charts and documentation on system one.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Assist with patient's individualised clinical care; take and record physiological measurements identifying and escalating any deterioration appropriately to the registered nurse.

To undertake specimen collection following instruction from the registered nurse.

Support patients to meet their nutritional needs, including assisting at mealtimes, completing food and fluid charts and reporting any concerns to registered nurse.

Escorting patients to outpatient appointments.

Ensure adequate training to be competent to provide safe manual handling of patients using appropriate equipment as per physiotherapists care plan.

Ensure equipment used by patients e.g. hoists are safe, clean as per infection control policy.

Implement instructions on patient care but carry out individualised personal patient care using initiative; respond to changing patient signs and report to registered nurse.

Observe and document patient's skin as per their individualised care plan reporting any pressure damage to the registered nurse.

Assess patient's condition and report changes, assess comfort of patient, able to prioritise patient care

Maintain a clean and tidy environment on the ward.
