Halton Borough Council is looking for passionate and dedicated Children's Social Workers to join our Duty & Assessment Team. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a difference in the lives of children and families while working within a supportive and collaborative team.

The Duty & Assessment Team plays a vital role in providing immediate responses to children in need and ensuring timely and effective interventions. If you're ready for a challenging yet rewarding role, we'd love to hear from you.

Responsibilities

  • Respond promptly to referrals, conducting robust assessments of children's needs and risks.
  • Develop and implement clear and effective plans to ensure children's safety and well-being.
  • Work in partnership with families, professionals, and agencies to deliver coordinated support.
  • Prepare high-quality reports for case conferences, court proceedings, and other professional forums.
  • Ensure statutory duties are met in line with relevant legislation and policies.
  • Maintain accurate and timely case records, adhering to confidentiality and data protection guidelines.

Requirements

  • Qualifications: Degree in Social Work and registration with Social Work England.
  • Experience: Proven experience in a Duty & Assessment role or similar, with a strong understanding of child protection, safeguarding, and multi-agency working.
  • Skills: Excellent assessment, analytical, and communication skills, with the ability to make sound decisions under pressure.
  • Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of relevant legislation, including the Children Act 1989, Working Together to Safeguard Children, and other statutory guidance.
  • Personal Attributes: Resilient, proactive, and passionate about improving outcomes for children and families.
