About the Role: An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Construction Manager to join a Bristol based Council. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating construction activities for the CRSTS highway projects in Bristol, ensuring that they are completed on time, within budget, and to a high level of quality.
The role will primarily involve working on-site across various locations in the city (south, city centre, and north), with some office-based work at Temple Street (around one day a week). The initial phase may require more office presence, transitioning to more site work as projects move into the delivery phase.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the delivery of CRSTS highway projects from construction to completion.
  • Conduct site visits to ensure work is carried out according to specifications and safety standards.
  • Coordinate with Project Managers, Engineers, NEC4 Site Supervisors, and other stakeholders to ensure project alignment and efficiency.
  • Manage construction schedules, resource allocation, and site logistics.
  • Liaise with the Highway Network team to mitigate any impact on concurrent projects.
  • Handle risk management, resolve issues promptly, and maintain clear communication among all parties.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Act as the point of contact for any construction-related issues and problem-solving on-site.
  • Collaborate with contractors and subcontractors to ensure smooth project progression.
Essential Skills & Experience:
  • Proven experience as a Construction Manager, preferably within highway or infrastructure projects.
  • Strong knowledge of project coordination and execution, particularly within the public sector.
  • Experience with NEC4 contracts and site supervision.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work on-site across multiple locations within Bristol.
  • Experience in stakeholder management and collaboration with multiple teams.
  • Full UK Driving License is essential for travel between sites.
