Job Title: Commercial Vehicle Technician (Level 3)
Location: Barnet
Pay: £20.79 per hour PAYE | £26.53 per hour LTD Umbrella (Inc Holiday Pay)
Working Pattern: Split shifts (06:00–21:30) + rota-based weekends & Bank Holidays

Service Care Solutions are working in partnership with a council in North London to recruit a Level 3 Commercial Vehicle Technician to support the delivery of their vital Street Scene Transport Services. This is a key role based in Barnet, where the Technician will be responsible for the maintenance, repair, and compliance of the council’s diverse vehicle and plant fleet - including refuse vehicles, grounds maintenance machinery, and specialist equipment.

The Role:
This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified and experienced technician to join a high-performing workshop team. The successful candidate will carry out inspections, diagnostics, repairs, and MOT testing (Classes 4, 5 & 7), ensuring the fleet remains roadworthy, compliant, and cost-effective. The role also includes occasional roadside assistance, administrative duties, and supporting operational compliance with the council’s operator licence.

Key Duties Include:
  • Servicing and repairing a wide range of commercial vehicles and plant
  • Acting as a VOSA-accredited MoT Nominated Tester (Classes 4–7)
  • Diagnosing faults, recommending cost-effective repairs, and ordering parts
  • Supporting compliance with health & safety and transport legislation
  • Operating IT systems including Fleetwave for job cards and reporting
  • Participating in a rota system for extended and out-of-hours cover

Candidate Requirements:
  • NVQ Level 3 in Heavy Motor Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent)
  • VOSA Nominated Tester accreditation for MoT Classes 4–7
  • Valid LGV Category C (HGV 2) licence
  • Experience working on a wide range of vehicles, including refuse and plant
  • Basic IT skills (Excel, Outlook); familiarity with Fleetwave is advantageous
  • Strong communication, time management, and team collaboration abilities
