Job Title: Bereavement Services Admin
Location: Cambridge – Crematorium & Cemetery (On-site)
Start Date: ASAP
Contract Type: Temporary
Weekly Hours: 37 hours per week
Job Purpose
The Bereavement Services Admin plays a central role in delivering compassionate and efficient bereavement services. You will manage the administrative functions associated with burial, cremation, and memorialisation services, ensuring that families and stakeholders receive a professional, sensitive, and responsive service during difficult times.
Principal Accountabilities
• Coordinate the booking of burial, cremation, and memorial services, including the processing of payments and execution of basic financial tasks such as preparing accounts, income summaries, and raising purchase orders.
• Oversee the administration, positioning, and installation of memorials and memorabilia, ensuring all memorial safety protocols are followed.
• Conduct minor repairs, maintenance, and cleaning of memorials, public areas, and back office spaces to maintain high standards of presentation.
• Perform operational checks on vehicles and assist with logistics, including the transport and management of services where necessary.
• Manage both witnessed and unwitnessed scatterings of cremated remains, ensuring that remains are released to families, friends, and funeral directors with sensitivity.
• Act as a chapel attendant by supporting multimedia systems during services—handling music, visual presentations, and other media—to meet the needs of the bereaved.
• Display essential public information such as service orders and flower identification cards.
• Work flexibly as part of a team, and undertake additional duties as required to support smooth and effective service delivery.
Candidate Profile
• Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in MS Office and digital tools, with excellent administrative and IT capabilities.
• Customer Focus: A strong commitment to delivering high-quality, empathetic service to those experiencing bereavement.
• Organisational Skills: Proven ability to multitask, problem solve, work independently, and prioritise workloads effectively in a pressurised environment.
• Interpersonal Skills: Excellent communication and networking skills with the ability to build effective relationships with diverse stakeholders.
• Flexibility: Willingness to work as part of a team and adapt to occasional evening and weekend working requirements.
• Additional Requirements: Valid driving license with the ability to operate assigned vehicles; GCSEs in Maths & English (grade C or above) or equivalent.
