Job Description

Service Care Solutions are looking for an Achievement Tutor to work within The Manchester College on full-time contract basis.

Location: Manchester

Roles/Responsibilities:
To deliver a high quality, student focused teaching and learning experience.

  • Teaching - Deliver outstanding teaching, learning and assessment including activities, resources and homework, to be used in the classroom, study areas, off site and at home.
  • Teach and deliver group and personal tutorials in accordance with policies and procedures.
  • Maintain the timely and accurate completion of registers and electronic recording systems.
  • Develop resources and teaching materials to meet course guidance/frameworks and tutorial Schemes of Learning.
  • Within a Scheme of Learning, develop lesson plans to ensure compliance with curriculum best practice and quality targets.
  • Develop assessments and mark students' work, ensuring learning outcomes have been met and that feedback is both constructive and includes how to further develop learning, behaviour, and personal development.
  • Use technology to develop and enhance the learning environment both inside and outside of the classroom.
  • Ensure delivery and embedding of employability skills, English and Maths and citizenship in schemes of learning and lesson plans, setting targets for the student's programme of study.
  • Work closely with English and Maths Teachers, Support Teachers/staff, Course Teachers/Leaders, and Employability Coordinators to ensure all student welfare and support issues are in place and ensure students are on track to achieve and happy in their studies.
  • Value each student as an individual and provide support, guidance and care to enable them to achieve to their maximum potential, working in collaboration with other staff, internal and external support services and working closely with parents/carers as appropriate.
  • Deliver regular, high quality 1-1 pastoral reviews to monitor and review the progress of allocated students/groups through their Programme of study/course including, as appropriate to the student cohort, technical subject, Maths and English, Work Placements, Enrichment participation and Employability skills.
  • Deliver a high-quality Induction programme and regular, high quality group tutorials covering topics in line with the Tutorial and Induction Policy including Equality and Diversity and Safeguarding and ensuring that student understanding of topics relevant to their local and wider community is extended.

Knowledge/Experience required:

  • Significant Experience of delivering outstanding teaching and learning.
  • Proven track record of high-quality teaching in delivering subject specialism or current valid industry specialism.
  • Excellent Data handling and analysis skills.
  • Clear written and Verbal Communication skills.
  • The ability to work effectively in cross college teams and establish positive relationships and bring about improvements.
  • Empathy with young people/adults.
  • Flexible and creative approach to tasks.

Qualifications:

  • Certificate of education or PGCE.
  • Current and valid industry specialism.
  • Assessor qualifications.
  • Minimum Level 3 occupational qualification.
  • English and maths Grade C or grade 4 and above.
