Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and skilled Clinical Nurse Specialist (LARC Fitter) to join the Sexual Health Services team at Garden Clinic, Upton Hospital on an agency basis. As a Clinical Nurse Specialist, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality, patient-centred care, specializing in Long-Acting Reversible Contraception (LARC) fitting and removal. You will work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to promote reproductive health, well-being, and choice.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide specialist nursing care, advice, and support to patients attending the clinic for LARC fittings and removals
- Conduct comprehensive assessments, including medical history, to determine suitability for LARC methods
- Fit and remove Intrauterine Devices (IUDs) and Implants, in accordance with national guidelines and best practices
- Provide education and counselling on reproductive health, contraception, and sexual health, promoting informed choice and decision-making
Requirements:
- Registered Nurse with a valid NMC registration
- Specialist qualification in Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) or equivalent (mandatory)
- Trained in fitting and removing Intrauterine Devices (IUDs) and Implants (mandatory)
- Knowledge of reproductive health, including contraception, pregnancy, and sexual health (mandatory)
- Experience working in a sexual health or reproductive health setting (desirable)
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with patients, families, and healthcare professionals
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage a caseload
Band 7 Requirements (in addition to the above):
- Advanced clinical skills and knowledge in LARC fitting and removal
- Experience in leading and managing a team, or willingness to take on leadership responsibilities
- Ability to develop and implement service improvements, guidelines, and policies
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret data and inform service development
